Learning Resources / Re: YouTube vids for Japanese folk songs
« on: January 31, 2020, 06:17:17 pm »
YouTube vids playing the songs in the Japanese Folk Song learning resources collection are easily available on YouTube. A lot of the songs are straightforward, but for some, hearing them sung in Japanese will help you place the slurs correctly. Here are a few:

Moon Over the Ruined Castle

Hi, Hoodsmom. Thanks for helping the community!

Just so you know, if you write the link like this:

Hey Roderick if you are reading...Got myself an Asus Tuf....not that I play games at all but if I am going to record videos/music the specs on this baby are muy buenos  :D to do just that!

Have a good day you all!

Muy bien! It's great that smartphones nowadays record with great quality more easily. I think that people will have better looking videos now showing the beautiful sound that Coda has.

So now there are no excuses  ;D, let's go ahead and record some wonderful videos outside!

General Discussion / Re: New looks for Coda
« on: December 30, 2019, 02:18:27 pm »
First I would like to wish you all a very happy new year full of joyful music and creative ideas!  I have not been too active in this forum and/or any other social media sites due to many technical issues the last of which happened last week when my old dinosaur laptop of 10 years took her last breath!  Finding my login to this site as well as many others was  a real test to my memory cells!  I guess I am exhausted because right now i cannot think for the life of me who among Karl's  selected advisory coda group suggested the use of a micro light gadget to attach to clear codas  when we 1st discussed the idea of marketing clear codas.  I thought that was a brilliant idea! ;)

May your computer rest in pieces Codaina   :(.

Maybe you want to use a password manager app to organize and not have to remember your passwords, they are really handy (I hear Lastpass is good).

I was just wondering what happened to the MO forums?   I check in there every day, and I have been getting a 404 error for the past couple of days.

Oops!  ;D ;D.

The problem should be solved now in a few hours. Thanks for notifying that Harp Player.

I just wanted to say thanks to Roderick and Karl for the hard work they do filtering out the spammers on this site.  I wasn't aware that 100 or more tries to get into this board every day, until recently.    You are doing a fine job at keeping this site safe and spam free.

Hey, guys. Thank you too, Harp player, for helping the forum by getting rid of those annoying spammers. We want to have this community as "healthy" (free from spam) as possible.

And, just so you have an idea, the other day I had to go through 1000+ registrations and 98% of those were spam. I said that's it and tried to work some better solution. From now on, spammers have to go through "Recaptcha" which is quite effective preventing spammers (It used to be that we could get up to 200 spammers in one day, now we get 1 or 0).

 ;)

James, the gifted musician who is collaborating with us to create these play-along tracks, recorded the backing tracks for Amazing Grace with a real guitar.  Please give us feedback on these! What do you like? What can we improve?

Coda Book Supports / [1st Song] Hot Cross Buns
« on: March 06, 2019, 09:54:18 pm »
Hot Cross Buns is the first song in the Coda book.  These play-along recordings are in 3 versions: the melody with backing track at 100 beats per minute, the backing track played slowly at only 60 bpm, and the backing track at 100 bpm. We plan to create something similar for most of the songs in the Coda book. (Actually, we eventually want to create a library of backing tracks to songs that you request.)

Besides being fun, playing along with backing tracks has several other advantages. It can improve your music reading skills, help you to learn to play by ear, prepare you for playing with other musicians, and teach you how to play in tune.

This is our first attempt at backing tracks. With your feedback, we want to improve them over time.
