Questions and Answers / Re: Silencers effectiveness
« on: June 11, 2020, 03:11:55 am »
Hey Spattolo. It’s me Again.
Yes the airy sound is very perceptive for the one that’s playing But not really to anybody else around you. So it is better than just fingering the song but still not as good as actually playing. So it does help with practice. :)

I think it was your passion that caught my attention at first. That and your humor. You always seemed to me like a very nice fellow. :)

Suggestions / Re: Blocking lefthand thumbhole
« on: May 31, 2020, 01:18:25 pm »
That is a interesting solution Mike. I have had my left thumb get sore when I first started playing. That is an advantage of have overlapping notes on the chambers. But my solution was a little less creative. I discovered that I was squeezing the tone hole way harder than I needed to and that over time my thumb would build up the skin like when I played guitar. I had also thought of something like a whittler’s thimble Made out of leather. For people that don’t know what that is. It is like a leather sleeve or sock that slides over your fingers or thumb. But if that works for you. It is something I had not thought of. Some songs might get a little tricky to play though on the switch. :)

It can be tricky getting the right balance of volume with the human voice especially with the flute family. I think small speakers carry the flute very well but the lower tones not so much.  ???

Very nice. Did you try to do this live or did you record separate tracks and then combine them? :)

Still working on my recording issues. I hope to have some videos sometime soon. I recommend low expectations. That way they won’t seem so bad.  :-[ :) ;)

I was thinking about my progress with the Coda EDC and the problems David has been having. For me I had to treat the Coda like a totally new instrument after my initial First few days of exposure to it because after I started switching chambers and playing the full chromatic scale there was plenty of changes that I needed to train my brain on. Like the difference between the English pendant ocarina and the 12 hole sweet potato ocarina or the  recorder. If you rely on muscles memory to get you through. It will slow your progress down or even stop it cold. So if you just go ahead and treat it like a totally new instrument at the start. You will make faster progress in the long run I think.  ??? :)
