Suggestions / A Consort of CODAs
« on: March 06, 2019, 09:24:51 pm »
Most instruments come in a group of different sizes, each good for a different part in an ensemble and for different purposes. My suggestion is to have the CODA be like this as well. We already have what is basically the "soprano" of the group, and although it's sound and range is nice, more options would open up numerous possibilities. I know there was talk before of maybe manufacturing an "alto" in G, but I would like to see a "tenor" or even a "bass" as well. Granted, the last two might be a bit on the big side to no longer be an EDC flute, but I'd think the option for low tones would be appreciated.

Suggestions / CODA Beginner Book
« on: March 06, 2019, 09:11:01 pm »
There was a gap for many years were I did not play any musical instruments, and what bought me back into the hobby was a Mountain Ocarina and the Learning to Play Mountain Ocarinas book and CD set I bought along with it. I found it to be one of the best set of resources for learning to play music again; it's well-written, has good selection of songs, and eases one into reading music and playing along in with a consistently level learning curve.

The CODA comes with a book that also is a great resource for learning music. However, it more-or-less assumes that the reader already knows how to play a similar instrument, so is more of a book for intermediate-level players. A true beginner, who has never read or played a note before, would have to look elsewhere. So, I am wondering if there has been any though to publishing another book, one that a beginner can use to learn the CODA as their first instrument. After all, it would be nice to have something for future generations to take their first steps with, as the CODA is great for beginner and advanced player alike.

Introductions / Hello Forum
« on: March 06, 2019, 08:54:05 pm »
Hello everyone! So here I am at a forum again to post a few thoughts. Among this, I might as well post a bit about my CODA story here:

I've dabbled with quite a few instruments throughout my life. About 8 years ago I bought a Mountain Ocarina and have been practicing with it off and on ever since. However, the limited range had me playing a recorder instead for the more complex songs, but since hearing of the CODA I knew that I would return to a more compact instrument someday. That day arrived a couple of weeks ago and while it's taking a bit of time to get used to it I'm certainly enjoying the journey so far. I'm looking forward to playing it some more and the CODA looks to be my primary instrument for quite some time as it's just about everything I could want.
