General Discussion / Forum participation
« on: December 27, 2019, 07:16:13 pm »
I just want to encourage forum members to contribute to the forum. They say only 1% of forum members actively participate on the forums they belong too. Many forums all over the internet are closing down because of this. I know there is a lot of talented, intelligent and interesting people that belong to this forum and many more that have not joined but regularly stop by and read the posts. If that is you? Please Consider joining and contributing here. I love getting to know and interacting with people. Besides. Many of you are probably getting tired of me posting so much.  ;) ??? ;D

P.S. For those that are contributing, thank you very much.  :)

General Discussion / New looks for Coda
« on: December 01, 2019, 01:39:38 am »
I am thinking of different ways to give coda new looks without redesigning the instrument.
Like colors , designs ,skins ,stickers and so on. Things like Karl did with the ivory  mouthpiece. Things that give Coda a collectable side. Like Karl did with the other mountain ocarinas. I would like to keep the conversation light and fun but maybe give Karl real ideas he might be able to use for future Codas.  ;) ??? :)

Like I am still looking for that gem like blue Coda.  ::) ;)
Nooooooo pressure or anything.  ;D ;)

I was just wondering if there is anybody here that plays the harmonica besides me and harp player and if so. What kind of harmonicas do you have?  :)

I’ve never had trouble before so I don’t know if it’s on my side or your side?

Off topic / I can’t believe how quick time passes
« on: August 04, 2019, 11:30:45 am »
I can’t believe it is August already. When I was a child things were so different. A week was a long time. A month a really long time and a year was forever. Any thing longer than a year was beyond my ability to contemplate. :)
Now its where did the year go.   :( :o ??? :'( ::)

General Discussion / What to call somebody that plays a flute.
« on: August 03, 2019, 11:22:23 am »
“The Oxford English Dictionary states that the word flutist (1603) is a much older established word than flautist (1860). Since the English term flute is related to the modern French flûte, it follows therefore that the player of that instrument would be a flutist.” ??? 8)

General Discussion / The right stuff
« on: August 02, 2019, 12:28:31 pm »
If we could just get somebody that is well known and has a lot of followers to give Coda a positive review or endorsement. I think Karl and company would have all the business they could handle.  ??? ;) :) 8) I hope that happens someday. ;) :)

General Discussion / Coda videos
« on: July 30, 2019, 10:48:56 am »
Wanted! Skilled Coda players to make videos of themselves playing please.  ??? ;) :)
This will have a two fold purpose of letting people see Coda in action and providing some educational entertainment.  :)
I know there is some out there. I know Coda is a new instrument but some of you have Been playing for over 8 months now. I bet some of you are ready to shine.
Remember the song “ The Touch Of The Master’s Hand “ and how it affected the people at the auction. That’s not just a song. That really happens.  :) Plus it’s just great fun to watch.

Share your musical journey / Duane’s World (A musical journey)

So far so good. I’m enjoying the Coda. It is  definitely different from anything I’ve played before. On the first  Day I was able to get some decent sound on the lower range but still needed some work. I could not get much at all on the upper range that was worth listening to.  >:(
After a few days the lower range is sounding fairly decent. :)
After about a week the upper range is sounding halfway decent. :o
I am now starting to play songs that connect the lower and the upper ranges but it is still a work in progress.  ::)
I am also starting to work on my chromatic notes.
I would like to add at this point to all the other Coda players  also going on this journey. that I consider myself an intermediate ocarina ,recorder and mountain ocarina player.  So  your mileage may vary. :)
I  really expected to be farther along on this journey. I have to admit the thought come to my head that I had a faulty coda but I quickly said no it’s probably just me.
So I just want to encourage those that are learning to play the Coda to have patience and listen to what the Experienced Coda players say and before you know it you’ll be on your way.
So if you’ve watched kissing88’s review of the Coda.  You need to adjust your expectations to your level. Kissing88 is a advanced player. ::)

Some apps that might help someone with their music journey.
These are apps for your iPhone or tablet  that I found very useful for beginners on up too experienced  musicians.

1)  Sheet Music Scanner

One of the cool things this app will do for you is you scan the music and it plays it back for you  with the instrument you select.

2)   Bandmate

This app has both Google and Apple versions

This app is a band instrument tuner but not only does it use a regular tuning meter but it also puts it on a music staff as you play it.

I am so glad to finally get my coda.  I belonged to the old forum for years. I first heard about  Mountain ocarinas about 12 years ago I guess 2006 2007 thereabouts.  I was doing a search on ocarinas. My family has always been into music.  I sing, play the harmonica and recorder. I was looking for a small portable flute that I could carry around like a harmonica. So I came across this video of Karl talking about Mountain Ocarinas  and his dream for a new pro line of ocarina.  So I bought a C and G mountain  ocarina  and have been waiting for the pro line ever sense.
I bought a triple ocarina a few years back while I was waiting for the pro line to come.
I am so happy for Karl that he was able to finally bring the Coda to market.
I bought a Coda as soon as I found out that it was out a week or two ago  and I love it.
